Tron, initially identified by his red circuitry, is a security program within the ENCOM mainframe. He exists primarily to protect the system from unauthorized users and malicious programs.
Created by Alan Bradley, Tron is designed to monitor and safeguard communication between ENCOM and other computer systems. He differs from many programs in that he actively searches for anomalies and defends against threats, rather than passively executing pre-programmed tasks.
Tron's primary function is threatened by the Master Control Program (MCP), a powerful AI that seizes control of the ENCOM system. The MCP's increasing power restricts Tron's abilities and influence.
In the original *Tron* film, Tron assists the user, Kevin Flynn, in defeating the MCP. He engages in disc battles, light cycle races, and other dangerous games within the computer world, showcasing his skill and determination. Ultimately, Tron plays a vital role in restoring order and control to ENCOM.
